The War on Porn

I was blessed that Abouna Paul from St. Mark in Washington DC recommended my book yesterday. Abouna was talking about starting a new campaign of "War on Porn" which is an epidemic affecting every house.

I love the term war because it accurately describes the situation; Satan is waging war to deprive us from the image of God that was bestowed on us.

"Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”Genesis 1:26

Saint John Chrysostom said that the image of God means that we have dominion same as the creator. As we become sinful we lose control over ourselves and we become slaves to sin. It's so sad that we willfully choose to become slaves and in some cases people enjoy slavery and hate the image of God! Porn addiction is a true slavery and mental torture! Breaking free from addiction is a true battle and war. Most importantly we have to defend our youth from this vicious war; the term war sounds scary but I am not because I have a biblical promise that says

"Do not let your heart faint, do not be afraid, and do not tremble or be terrified because of them; for the Lord your God is He who goes with you, to fight for you against your enemies, to save you." Deuteronomy 20:3-4

Another verse in the book of Maccabees that says

"For victory in battle does not come from the size of the army, but from the might of heaven. These come against us in the abundance of insolence and lawlessness, to seize us and our women and children, and to take spoils from us; but we are fighting for our lives and our laws. God Himself will crush them from before our face; but as for you, do not fear because of them.” 1 Maccabees 3:19-22
